The fate of the prince
The king was seriously ill. On his deathbed, he was worried about his successor.
Both sons are so erudite, capable and sensitive to the feelings of the people. Choosing the eldest son may hurt the youngest son, and choosing the youngest son may hurt the eldest son.
Other kings fret about their son's incompetence, but he frets about his son's ability! Finally, the king had to hold an emergency meeting to ask the Manchu civil and military to discuss the method of selecting the successor.
A minister said: "I think the fairest way is to flip a coin. If the coin falls on the front, set the big prince as the king. If the back is on the back, let the little prince be the king..."
Before the end of the minister's speech, he was strongly opposed by the two princes: "let's take the exam in another way. Our destiny depends on ourselves, not on money. People who depend on money to determine their destiny are actually worthless!"
Hearing this, the old king smiled with relief.
No matter which Prince succeeds to the throne, he is absolutely at ease, because they are the masters of their own destiny.
