Xiao Fengxi has been suffering from the cold and warm world since she was born. When he was born, his mother saw that he was a lame child and fainted directly from the bed, in that era of food insecurity, normal people survive are so difficult, he was such a disabled child, how to feed themselves in the future.
Xiao Fengxi has been very sensible since childhood, although he knows he is a disabled person, but he will take the initiative to do what he can, cutting pig grass to feed pigs, raising ducks, catching snails, everything. He likes listening to grandpa tell stories on weekdays, every summer evening, he will sit with grandpa in the courtyard dam to cool, and then listen to grandpa tell those distant celebrity inspirational stories, grandpa told him: "Fengxi, give you this name, is to hope that you will have a good harvest, you have to live well, to stand up, and to stand up very well, grandpa believes that you are a strong child."
But when he was six years old, his grandfather left him, and he was very sad. Father and mother in order to let him learn a craft, resolutely gave him to an old man playing monkey, and then he and the old man lived a wandering day, in that unbearable time, he played monkey play during the day, at night learn to read. When he was 8 years old, Monkey's grandfather died, and he had to climb back from a long distance.

After he entered the school, he worked very hard and won the scholarship every year. Seeing that the neighborhood kids and his brothers could ride bikes, he blinked and wanted to ride them himself. He fell down again and again and stood up again and again until he could actually ride.
After middle school, he got the attention of school officials, who called a doctor to give him a prosthetic leg. In this way, Fengxi can really stand up. While reading, he used his spare time to work in a bookstore, read a lot of books, and finally entered the university. In the university, everyone knows his deeds, he is optimistic, not like a disabled person at all, he and his classmates help each other, formed a deep friendship.
However, after graduating from college, he did not choose to do a high-paying career in Taipei, but decided to return to his hometown to become an ordinary teacher. He said: "Although I am a cripple, but I am very lucky, I got so many people's help, I also went to college, I want to do a cause for my hometown, so that more people in need of help can get more love."
His wife encouraged him to write a book about his experiences, and later his autobiographical novel A Broken Boat in the Middle of the Ocean was published and reprinted many times, and his deeds spread to Taiwan in 1974, when he was listed in the 12th "Ten Outstanding Young People" in Taiwan, and his deeds were made into a TV series and won the Golden Horse Award.
